About Dr. Saboe

Family

Dr. Saboe began his Albany practice over 30 years ago in 1981, a practice established by his father Dr. Vern Saboe, Sr., in 1956.  He grew up in Albany graduating from West Albany High School and completing many of his undergraduate studies at Linn-Benton Community College.  Dr. Saboe and his wife Jeri who were high school sweethearts have given their lives to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and attend Albany First Assembly of God Church.  Dr. Saboe has a son Jackson and his wife Jeri has two daughters Taylor and Nicole.

Post-Doctorate Education

Following completion of his under graduate work Dr. Saboe graduated from Western States Chiropractic College December 14, 1979, a four year chiropractic school located in Portland, Oregon.  Following chiropractic school, Dr. Saboe completed a two year course of study in 1984 sponsored by the Motion Palpation Institute and a three year course of study in orthopedics sponsored by Los Angeles Chiropractic College in 1987.  He subsequently completed a three year course in neurology in 1990 sponsored by Parker College of Chiropractic in Pasadena, Texas, and in 1997 completed a two year internal disorders program co-sponsored by Western States Chiropractic College  and Logan College of Chiropractic located in St. Louis, Missouri.  He then completed a three year course of study in forensic science sponsored by Logan College of Chiropractic in 2000.  Dr. Saboe is the only chiropractic physician in Oregon board certified in all three subspecialties of orthopedics, neurology, and forensic science. 

Patient and Professional Advocacy

Dr. Saboe routinely lectures to his peers speaking on the subjects of orthopedics,
neurology, and forensic medical science and has written many articles relative to these
areas of practice.  He has been the recipient of numerous awards and twice
selected as “Chiropractor of the Year” by his peers (2003 and 2005).  In 2015 Dr.
Saboe’s peers on the national level, selected him to receive both the American
Chiropractic Association’s “Delegate of the Year” and the “F. Dow Bates
Political Action Award” the presentations were held in Washington, DC.   He is
Past president of the Oregon Chiropractic Association (2003-2005), the
American College of Chiropractic Orthopedists (2008), and currently serves as
Oregon’s delegate to the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) since 1994.
He also serves on the ACA’s Legislative Commission, Military and Veterans
Affairs Committee, Political Action Committee, and Taskforce on Economics and
Quality of Care.

Dr. Saboe is the chief paid lobbyist for the Oregon Chiropractic Association and
advocates for chiropractic patient issues in Salem as well as in Washington, DC.
In 2010 he was appointed by Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber, MD., to the
Governor’s Health System Transformation Team that created Oregon’s
coordinated care organizations (CCOs).  In 2011 then Governor Kitzhaber
appointed Dr. Saboe to the new Health Evidence Review Commission (HERC)
that he served for four years (2011-2015) as well as the HERC subcommittee
for Evidence-based Guidelines Development and Coverage Guidance.  2015-2016
Dr. Saboe served the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners (OBCE), Oregon Chiropractic Practices and Utilization Guideline Advisory Committee and co-authored a new“Whiplash Associated Disorders” section for these updated OBCE guides. 
Currently Dr. Saboe serves on the HERC’s Value-based Benefits Subcommittee and
the Regence-CareCore’s Physical Medicine Advisory Council.   

Professional Services

In addition to providing high quality services for patients as a specialist, Dr. Saboe frequently provides consultations/second opinions on difficult cases for his peers, medical doctors, insurance companies, attorneys, governmental agencies, and is a frequent medical expert in legal proceedings.
